Chameleons Remastered Reissues

Chameleons Remastered Reissues

Postby korova1 » Fri Jun 07, 2013 7:55 am

Got this from Blue Apple Music a little while ago:

The Chameleons: Two New Titles Available Now For Pre-order
We're pleased to announce that two new Chameleons titles will be available from Blue Apple Music on June 17th - and if you pre-order direct from us, you can receive both albums for a combined price of only £15 (+ p&p). This offer expires midnight on June 16th.
.
The first new release is a re-mastered version of Why Call It Anything, the band's fourth studio album (produced by David M Allen - Strange Times). The second disc features the band live in concert at Manchester Academy, performing various songs from WCIA , together with the well-known classics. The album is presented in a double jewel case with brand new artwork by Reg Smithies.

The second release is Dreams in Celluloid (A Collection of Rare Recordings). This is another 2 disc set - the first featuring recordings from early in the band's career, such as Fan and The Bellows, Dali's Picture and Everyday I'm Crucified. The second disc is the very rare Tony Fletcher EP, the final tracks recorded by the band immediately prior to their split in the 1980s. All recordings have been restored and re-mastered for this release. Artwork features paintings by Dave Fielding.

Single disc editions of these albums, plus the restored and re-mastered Tony Fletcher EP, are also available from all major digital platforms.

I never get bored of listening to "Second Skin" and "Up and Down Escalator". I think they the mere mention mention of "The Chameleons" and I will do an immediate buy.

I don't know how many conceptual videos they made but I wish they would release all of that too on a dvd.

I've queried both Blue Apple Music and Mark Burgess himself about Strange Times and The Sun And The Moon's sole LP and they both said Geffen is being difficult by not giving up the master tapes.

I find this appalling in the sense that if the label isn't going to do anything with it, why not let the artists who created the music be allowed to do the job themsleves. Geffen are being quite prickish about it.

Bummer. They could have fit The Sun And Moon album, the 2 b's from the Peace In Our Time 12" and the Alive; Not Dead EP all on one CD. But to borrow one of the latter's song titles, c'est la vie...

Actually, there has already been such a release - 'The Great Escape' - http://www.discogs.com/Sun-And-The-Moon ... ter/525483 - it gathered all of the released recordings from the album and two EPs except for one track, the cover of Alice Cooper's 'Elected' - so, it should be possible for such a release so long as Geffen/Warners can be persuaded... 'The Great Escape' is impossibly rare now though, I don't know what numbers it was pressed up in.

I have The Great Escape, signed by the band, it's an awesome release.

I've also created my own custom adding Elected...all the band's studio output fits on one CD...

Blue Apple could do some fantastic 2CD reissues here:

The Sun And The Moon - all studio tracks on disc 1, radio sessions, live and demos on disc 2

Strange Times - all studio tracks on disc 1, demos on disc 2...there's a widely circulated bootleg of the Strange Times demos that would be a nice disc 2
