It's being said that 'You Came [Shep Pettibone 7" US Edit]' is from either vinyl or a low quality mp3, as it sounds noticeably different to the other bonus tracks. Also, 'Hey Mister Heartache [7" Version]' has some audible crackles/pops in the intro and outro... groan.

Vinyl rips? Jesus not again. I've just ordered mine £8.99 Sainbury's (as usual).

These days it's impossible to have a remastered cd without any vinyl rips...

Just played Hey Mister Heartache [7" Version] on loud stereo speakers, and I do not hear any such crackle before she sings, or on the outro. I also don't hear any of the tell tale signs it's from vinyl - typically, any kind of "s" sound tends to head towards a hiss/lisp sound, but the "mister" and "listen" vocal is clear as a bell... it's also exactly the same depth and volume as the other 7" versions, with the exception of the You Came [Shep Pettibone 7'' US Radio Edit]...

I played that too and it's a very dodgy transfer. It's really distorted and poorly balanced. Louder than the other tracks too. It's definitely come from a non-lossless source, it's got no clarity in the opening synths. I get what was said elsewhere on a different forum about it sounding like a YouTube rip - it has the same trashy sound. A shame, but otherwise I decent product.

Though I'm not a fan of Kim after her EMI years, it's sad to hear about more disappointing transfers. I'm crossing my fingers about the 1 Bananarama set I will be buying in October...

I've got the US promo CD-Single of "You Came (Shep Pettibone 7" US Edit)", and I'm certainly not the only one around, so I wonder why they should have used any weird/lesser quality source such as Youtube or vinyl... [?]

I take back what I said earlier about Hey Mister Heartache 7". I've just played it through headphones and there is noticeable crackling in the first 15-20 seconds, and on the fade. Really didn't pick it up on the stereo, but on headphones, it's there. Definitely transferred from a non-mint 7"! Gutted. That was her only A-side not available on CD in it's original single version.

Yes, baffled as to the awful quality of the US 7" Edit when it's on a CD that many people have a copy of.

And thanks for the editing posts tip! [:0]

Oh well. It amazes me how Universal decided to take it upon themselves and still fuck up . The Nik Kershaw Riddle cd was one prime example in terms of bonus track selection. Close should've been handed over to the Cherry Red team who'd done the other wonderful KW reissues.

Don't set up your hopes too high for Bananarama, still no confirmation that masters will be used for this reissue campaign.

This is a shame about the remastering issue. It sounds like MCA reords, now owned by Universal Music, didn't care about their catalogs. Nik Kershaw mentioned something like this in the liner notes of his "The Riddle" re-issue. I still don't understand. Wasn't the company asking for fans to send in their photos and such for this new re-issue? If the company had problems with finding the masters, they should have looked to the CD singles that were released then too. Baffles my mind. Sad.

Still, I am looking forward to this, just pains me when things aren't taken as seriously as they should be.

Hi Neil, yes I read this earlier today and posted on that issue in the Bananarama thread. Thanks anyway.
