The Cars

The Cars

Postby elviscaprice » Sat Mar 29, 2014 7:19 am

A complete collection in Hi Rez of the Cars from 1978-1987, available at HDtracks. Just downloaded it today in 24bit 96khz wav and it is definitely the best I've ever heard. Sounds very straight forward but clean, not too loud, obviously straight from the masters, no upsampling. At times I think it's a little bright, but I think that's just from hearing too many crapy remasters lately. Love it, jumps right out to me, but I can put my arms around it, just what I would expect from a Hi Resolution release.

Don't pay full price, there's always a weekly promo. Thru tomorrow for 10% off the promo code is HDMAR25

I have some old Cars CD's including their greatest hits and they sound fine. No remastering needed.

I've heard of HDTracks but never looked at it before. Now that I have, there's nothing there! At least from the batch of bands I typed in. And to pay more than the price of a CD for was is allegedly the best download available is questionable. And since they make you buy full albums, I can't download one track to see how squashed it is. Pass. Oh, and The Cars is not available in my area due to regional restrictions, or whatever the hell it said.

Looks real good. If you like I could upload a sample. Don't get angry, lol. I don't disagree that HDtracks has it's downfalls. Just passing on the good news about this release. It's nice when I can find a quality Hi Rez release that I enjoy.
Scott, what country you live in? There are other Hi Resolution sites that sell outside the U.S. that we can't buy from certain releases due to music rights.
Just email me here and I'll send you a link for this track. Goodness knows you've contributed plenty on this site. It's the least I could do for you.

Thanks for the offer Elvis. That does look good, though I already have the pricey Mobile Fidelity CD of Shake It Up (which has full dynamic range), so I'm good. I'd love to see more obscure artists show up on HD Tracks, as long as they all have similar dynamics.
