which band do you prefer and or is better.....
pezband or off broadway ?????
i love both bands & there's a place in my heart for both,but i actually prefer,,,off broadway
i dont know if you know this but mimi betinis from pezband is the brother of off broadway vocalist/songwriter,cliff johnson.
their voices sound very very similar.
cliff johnson was also the original vocalist for pezband in the 1970's and then left to form off broadway, then mimi betinis took over the lead vocals chores.
the bass player from pezband also joined off broadway.

Georgie, I really like your taste in music. You've had some pretty good posts lately.

They're both kind of "second string" pop-rock / power-pop acts. I don't imagine you'll find people who like one and hate the other, you know - - they both created the same kind of nice catchy rock songs.

Right now, as I type this, if I were to put on one of their records, it would probably be Off Broadway's "On" lp. Why? "Stay in time" and "Bad Indication" are two great reasons.

I have the Off Broadway USA (Isn't there a USA on the end?) album and like it a lot but I've never heard Pezband. Any recommendations or out of print songs to share? Thanks!

The "usa" was added by Atlantic, IINM. (Maybe to avoid confusion with some other country's Off Broadway? I don't know.) I actually had to look close at their album covers to see where the "usa" is... and I've got them on vinyl.

"Stay in Time" always got on my nerves ("oh boy!"), but I think the single from "Quick Turns," "Automatic," is one of the great lost power pop classics. It stiffed -- and so did the album -- but that should have been the hit.
