Ahoy, ahoy, mix junkies...

Skids - 'Best of the Skids: The Saints Are Coming'

This came out recently - there has been so many Skids compilation CDs its tempting to give it a miss, but I notice this one actually has a couple more mixes for a change, notably from the 1980 remix of 'Days In Europa' which has never surfaced on CD as yet (specifically 'Charade' and 'The Olympian' - which come to think of it wasn't on the remix LP but was on a 7" red vinyl flexidisc given away free with Smash Hits)

Actually the remixed Days In Europa did come out on CD in Japan. I have it.

Blimey... When did that come out?! Is there any additional tracks or just the original tracks from the 1980?

Mid 1990s. No extra tracks, I picked up a promo sample copy in an Oxfam shop of all places for about £2 around 1997. When I get home I'll post the cat number etc which might help you track it down.

It came out in 1991 as part of Virgin's New Wave Sensation series, cat number VJCP 23105. Hope that helps!

Hi again... Veru useful, thanks for taking the time to look out the deatails. And that was quite a find you had in Oxfam - my local branches seem to be well stocked with Barry Manilow, Five Star and the entire back catalogue of Level 42. Actually, I'm doing them a dis-service, it's not that bad.

Anyway, a nice surprise to learn that it is available on CD as well as the Captain Oi version, Cheers!

Just following up... I managed to track down a copy... Packaging is as per the 1980 issue but the actual tracks ojn the disc are the 1979 mixes and it includes the 'Pros and Cons' instead of 'Masquerade', which the sleeve states should be included... interestingly, the lyrics on the insert booklet for 'Masquerade' are actually those of 'Pros and Cons'... is your copy similar... looks like an interesting mix-up...
