Terrible mastering - A small rant

Terrible mastering - A small rant

I just have to vent because this one really pisses me off. I just got home today to find a Nena import from Germany that I ordered. It's a 2 CD set titled "Einmal Ist Keinmal". Disc 1 is a sort of best of compilation, where disc 2 (the reason I bought it) is a bunch of rare 12" mixes and rarities. You can just imagine how disgusted I was when I put it on my portable CD player/headphones only to hear that every song on disc 2 is terribly mastered from vinyl. WHAT??!! This CD set is a new Sony release, the originating label for these recordings! I cannot believe that a major label resorted to crappy, low quality vinyl transfers when they have all the f*cking master tapes!! Needless to say, this piece of shit is going straight in my to-sell pile. I'm ill about it, but if the Nena CD that Cherry Red have asked to license comes through, I will remaster the main songs I wanted from this garbage CD myself, and ensure they are represented in high quality. This pisses me off, and there is no excuse for Sony to have released such a crap product. Just be glad it's available? No f*cking way...
