This review for Qwest 12" Promo:

What makes this release so extraordinary, is not only it's relative obscurity, but that the B-Side contains the live video version of 'The Perfect Kiss'.

The video version is a live (albeit heavily sequenced) version of this dance floor crusher (...well, it was in 1985). Generally speaking I hate live versions, I much prefer studio recordings with over dubs, but this one is different in that the accompanying video was taped as they recorded this version (apparently in New Order's Practice room). The video was actually shot on film, and contained highly orchestrated shots, indicative of an actual "video". In other words, this wasn't presented as a 'concert' sort of video. look for Joy Division poster, and a ghostly figure peering out of the mixing booth....

Sonically the instrumentation, and performances are dialed to within 90% of the album version. Thankfully there is a distinct separation to the sounds, one can hear a rawness in the playing which really punches up the experience.

As clinical and precise as the video and song appear to be, the real rush is to hear the mistakes (really more like additions and deletions). The simplicity of the individual band members musicial performances do not represent the totality of this epic song. New Order is the sum of its parts.
