The Paley Brothers & Graham Parker Reissues!

The Paley Brothers & Graham Parker Reissues!

Postby collectorschoice » Fri Dec 19, 2008 6:42 am

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that American Beat Records has a new home (Infinity Entertainment Group, home of Collectors' Choice and Noble Rot) and there are two American Beat reissues coming in March that might interest you:

The Paley Brothers - Self-Titled : Before making his mark producing albums from such iconic musicians as Brian Wilson, Jerry Lee Lewis and even Madonna (!), Andy Paley teamed up with his brother Jonathan to record the power-pop classic The Paley Brothers. Never before released on CD in the U.S. (there was a brief Japanese release that is now selling for $200 on Amazon), this gem has become one of the most sought after albums of the '70's. The Paley Brothers recieved a 4 1/2 star review in All Music Guide...pure pop for now people!

Graham Parker - The Up Escalator : Although already a veteran of the English pub-rock scene when his first solo record came out in 1976, his American record label decided to market Graham Parker in the same "angry young man" vein as fellow countryman Elvis Costello. The fact of the matter is that Parker had more in common with the likes of Van Morrison and the Rolling Stones than the punk scene that he was being equated with. The Up Escalator, Parker's fifth studio release (and last with his great backing band, The Rumour), features a duet with Bruce Springsteen and more of the gritty, non-nonsense rock & roll that made Graham a darling of the rock critics. A must have!

Looking forward to the Graham Parker reissue. Thanks for the update; I have enjoyed most if not all of American Beat's 80s reissues.
