Petition - Release Japan's 'Some Kind of Fool'

Petition - Release Japan's 'Some Kind of Fool'

Postby discoginfo » Sat Aug 15, 2015 5:33 am

I call this News because it's an opportunity to have an unreleased Japan track released. "In 1980, Japan (David Sylvian, Steve Jansen, Richard Barbieri, Robert Dean and Mick Karn) released the album Gentlemen Take Polaroids. A song which was meant to appear on the album was called 'Some Kind Of Fool'. Instead, it was replaced by 'Burning Bridges'. So many fans have wanted to hear the original 1980 Japan version of the song since they saw that it wasn't on the original LP, resorting to a audience recording on YouTube of an event where the song was played." Read more here. 250 needed to reach 500. (No money involved)

Signed. Thanks for the link. Also is there a way we could get a petition rolling to have an ultimate Japan 2cd compilation that will include every 7"/12", rarities etc ? The Singles (1996) and the Very Best Of (2006) were good, but i still think there's stuff missing.

Good point. I guess it's mostly up to David Sylvian. Maybe the upcoming Japan Biography 1974-1984 will kickstart new releases...?

I don't think David is too keen on Japan stuff being reissued especially after the Virgin remasters. But if this upcoming biography prompts him and the others , who knows?

Ok thanks. If this autobiography is successful I hope there'd be plans to reissue Mick Karn's early solo stuff as well as a remastered version of the Dolphin Brothers album.
