NEW Siouxsie song now on YouTube

NEW Siouxsie song now on YouTube

It's been 8 years since Ms. Banshee released a song, and here's the first new offering. This was from the season finale of Hannibal, and I think it's pretty amazing. It's very mellow and moody, but what it shows is that, despite her struggles with her former band's catalog material, Siouxsie's voice sounds amazing on a song written taking into account her current vocal range. What it shows it that so many brilliant albums could have been released over the 20 years since the Banshees packed it in, and it seems such a waste if she can still sound this great pushing 60. I'm still dreaming that since her and Severin have been on speaking terms for a couple of years, something musical may come of it.

It's a beautiful track, like Face To Face's less-bitter sibling... the rumour is it will have an iTunes release after the season finale airs in the USA this evening... and an album is on the way soon thereafter. I hope both rumours are correct!

There will be no musical reunion with Severin, he flatly refused to entertain it less than a year ago. They met up recently to discuss various back catalogue matters, and they were spotted together with Marc Almond at the premiere screening of the Hannibal finale in which Love Crime features, but that's about it. I don't really want them to reunite personally. Their heyday is behind them and I don't want it to be diluted with below-par reunions, like so many other bands...

It's a very beautiful song, very haunting and sounds a lot like If It Doesn't Kill You from Siouxsie's Mantaray album.

Thank you.

Any reuniting I can live without. Memories…

But I cannot fathom why Siouxsie is neglecting her immense talent. Still, a personal decision that I applaud. There are so many tired 70s/80s bands still trodding the circuit that I can only respect her staying in the background.

So... everything else was just rumours. No iTunes release, she has no record contract and she hasn't stepped inside a recording studio for 8 years. She has had no inspiration, nothing has moved her to work on new material, even though in October 2011 she said to camera she was working on new material and wasn't finished yet, career-wise. There's nothing else recorded, no album on the way... I am beyond gutted.

I'm totally fine with artists retiring. In fact I prefer it. I don't want to see Spandau, Duran etc. anymore--you've done your best, so stop the moneygrabbing. Siouxsie is a disappointment because she doesn't need Severin or Budgie or a band. The Voice, albeit different, is still there. But if she wants to stop, so be it.
