The Go-Go's - Album Re-issues, Out March 25th!

Demon Music Group are re-issuing expanded, remastered digipak editions of The Go-Go's three studio albums, Beauty And The Beat, Vacation and Talk Show, on March 25th. Beauty And The Beat is a 2CD, whilst Vacation and Talk Show are 1CD. :)

No doubt Edsel will do a great job with whatever they have to work with. Without track listings, though, it's hard to tell if we're really getting much, if anything, new.

The descriptions of each title on Amazon read as though these will each include extras that were released on the "Return to the Valley of the Go-Go's" set and its related singles. The live set for "Beauty and the Beat" sounds like the same one we already got stateside and is a bit of a snooze. I'm going to hope these descriptions aren't entirely accurate and that we'll see some good stuff come out of the vaults, though beyond early demos, the Stiff material, and live material predating BATB's release, I've never gotten the impressions that there was much to dig out.

There are decently recorded early live sets that show the transition from punk girls to pop princesses that would be of far more value than that Boston 1981 show. In my opinion, once they hit their stride, their live shows were fun to attend but are not really much to listen to, since they always stuck to a formula.

+ if they stay that way, again no dvds ... and there is quite a few proshot recordings out there (Rockpalast, Live in Rio etc) and of course things like Wild at the Greek or Totally Go-Go's. Not to mention their videos + tv-appearances.
Seems like the bonus video content is getting fastly out of fashion with the companies, unfortunately.

The way Demon Music normally operate, you can expect to see more Go-Go's releases I'd guess. See their Belinda Carlisle output in the last 18 months+ - album re-issues, best of CD+DVD, budget best of, live CD+DVD, etc. Hopefully, the albums sell ok and they follow their usual schedule. :)

My fear in that respect is that fans will have all of this already, and from what I understand, the Go-Go's didn't do well in the UK. It would be nice if these sold well enough to prompt more output, but I doubt I'll pick these up. :?

Well, not buying them wont help with your fears! :) I pre-ordered them right away. Talk Show is certainly in demand as the 1999 reissue sells for £30-40 second hand. Plus, these are coming off the back of the Belinda releases, too... so they are almost a cross-promotion. They'll use things like £5.99 best ofs and budget compilations to promote them further - "also available". If they've paid to license their catalogue, they'll be trying to wring as much money from it as possible.
