Spandau Ballet / Everything is Now: Vol 1 – The Early Years

Spandau Ballet / Everything is Now: Vol 1 – The Early Years

God what a dog's dinner - perfect chance to rectify those awful 2010 remasters, but no. Stick in some vinyl no one wants, omit Journeys To Glory and Diamond on CD...add in 7 (7 you spoil us!) demos...and all the 12" versions and b-sides and mixes everyone with any interest has already.

£150? Sod off.

Even if this box-set contained the first two albums on CD, I can't see any reason to buy it. I've never considered myself a die-hard fan and still I have: 4 LPs, Japanese mini-LP CD reissues of the first 4 albums (great sound quality), 3 CD "Reformation" anthology, "Gold" CD/DVD compilation, 12'' Mixes CD, 2 Live DVDs, the 2010 remasters and the original CDs of "Barricades" and "Heart".
As long as this is a new wave fan forum, I am sure many of us have more or less the same. What more could we need from a band that released only six studio albums (50 original songs)? A few more demos and a live recording? I can live without those.

No albums on CD? They cannot be serious. Instant reject from me. Also, are those the dismal 2010 remasters or newly (and better) done stuff?

Another thing is, I'm not convinced by the current logic of leaving the whole CD for the original album. It's only about 40-45 minutes of 75-80 minutes that can be used! Why not use the space to add B-sides, mixes etc? "Journeys" and "Diamond" CDs can safely house both album and all 12" versions (the 7" ones tended to be the same as on the albums or simple edits, so why duplicate them?), the third CD can include all the other material - demos, radio sessions etc. Why blow it out of all proportion? I personally would want everything in one place, not scattered across multiple discs and formats.

Oh and can people stop with Wilson mixes please? They're a right rip off if I ever saw one, adding nothing of substance and taking up space. It can be the whole other project, if necessary, no need to bundle it up with the original stuff.
