Influential '80s popsters Squeeze will reunite this summer for separate US and UK tours that mark the band's first live appearances in more than eight years.
Led by singer/songwriters Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, the group released its eponymous debut album almost 30 years ago. The band--which also featured keyboardist Jools Holland--found its greatest success in the '80s before eventually disbanding in 1998.
Aside from Difford and Tilbrook, the group has not yet announced the precise lineup for its reunion tour, which kicks off July 31 in Cape Cod, MA, and so far comprises 11 US shows that are detailed in the itinerary below.
A November/December UK leg will follow, with eight shows so far mapped out. The band's overseas itinerary can be found at its new official website.
The group will have new product to support on the road. "Essential Squeeze," which the band is calling its "definitive greatest hits collection," will hit stores April 30, and also features two unreleased tracks. A DVD version of the set, featuring music videos from throughout the group's career, will be released on the same day.
Both Difford and Tilbrook have continued to record and tour since the band's initial breakup. Difford's second solo album, "Another Day Above Ground," will be released in the UK this summer.
Tilbrook is currently working with his band, The Fluffers, on his third solo release, according to a press release. The disc is scheduled to surface "later this year."
