I think December or early 08. Can't understand what the hell is taking so long. I wonder if the Rough Trade buy-out caused some turmoil.

Bit more news cubby on the mini-tour, EP and LP...

Maxwell's last night was probably the most raucous BSP concert I've seen. Wow, what deafening sound system for such a small room. Fantastic.

Cooler than that though was the strange confluence of people I met. Marv and JustJohn from the NWO...howdy John! Kevo and "Captain Riot", acquaintances from the UK. Winston and Ross, friends and BSP virgins who were wowed by their unexpected power. And even the BSP lads themselves, who ate dinner at the table over from us. Very cool. I love a tiny venue where everyone in the room seems completely "in" on the act.

I sure wish some of the Bostonians would check out their Middle East Club date this Sunday Oct 21st!

I'm tempted, but I'm planning on seeing Art Brut Monday night and then the Detroit Cobras come to town again on Thusrsday. I don't know if I could handle 3 nights out in 1 week.

What are the chances I won't respond to any and all BSP postings?! [B)]

Okay, so you're saying you might prioritize both A) a self-ironic band singing about being in a band (whose self-irony will likely wear off after about two songs) or B) an R&B cover band, however well they may rock. For my money, I'd see the Cobras and BSP...both will ROCK you, the latter face-meltingly so...IMHO. OR...you can choose to loll around with smirking irony-loving hipsters at Art Brut. [:o)]

Oh, PLUS, you'll have the opportunity to meet not just one but TWO charming and engaging NWO denizens! [8D]

Was a pleasure meeting you and your friends as well, Blir. How the bloody hell did you recognize me?? I think I posted a pic on here, like, 2 years ago(Oops, just realized there's a link in my profile to a Space of My page that features a pic of me).

I actually thought "Apologies To Insect Life", the opener, fell completely flat on it's face....to the point where I was worried that there was something wrong with the soundystem. Although I enjoyed their set beyond that I just didn't think they were as sonically exciting as they had been for their previous NY/NJ shows. I'm glad they stopped covering the stage in foliage. that nonsense usually took over a half an hour.

Plus, I was diggin' the Gang Of Four tunes played between the bands.

That's right, I forgot about the cool GOF tunes before the band...as well as the smokin' hot blond in front of me with the big 'XXX' tatoo on her back. Maybe she's why I wasn't particularly bothered by much that night. I'll agree that the sound, especially the vocals, were pretty muddy. I wonder if they just had everything turned up a bit too high.

PS. I recognized you from your small pic in the NWO Sgt Peppers 'class picture'.

This was about the oddest BSP concert I've seen the boys do. I'm sure it greatly had to do with game 7 of the Boston Red Sox final being on in the back of the bar and a bunch of Sox Cocks watching that and cheering at fairly inopportune moments. Fooking obnoxious. It didn't help that Noble seemed to have guitar trouble, playing most of the set on his smaller SG versus the bigger ES Gibson. I couldn't quite make out his sparkling highs on Carrion and Lately for example.

Not that it was a bad concert. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Part of it likely had to do with my terrific vantage point. Middle East has an elevated lounge area on the left of the stage that's about stage high. Standing in the front corner of that area, one can find himself basically right at the front left corner of the stage. Fantastic! Plus Woods drums and Yan's vocals were exceptional tonight. A bit muddy on both in Hoboken but stellar here. All in all, very enjoyable...but a bit odd. Oh...and the shrubbery was back. Yay! Plus they played some cool Clash songs before the set. I thought of Design-Femme when "Straight to Hell" came on...you shoulda been there K!

I probably would've been one of those Sox Cocks if I had made it out. I fell asleep during the 7th inning anyhow. Too many late nights watching the ALCS.

Sorry to have missed you TB. But great recommendation that we stop in at In Your Ear. Dirt cheap LPs compared to the raping they give in NYC at places like Bleeker's. Cheers.
