Worst song lyrics

Postby birdmadgirl » Fri Jul 21, 2006 2:27 pm

Ran across this:
http://www.thephoenix.com/article_ektid14634.aspx

So, let's hear what you think the worst song lyrics are.

I've got to go with Heart's "All I Wanna Do."

"So we found this hotel, it was a place I knew well
We made magic that night. Oh he did everything right.
He brought the woman out of me so many times easily
And in the morning when he woke, all I let him was a note
I told him 'I am the flower you are the seed'
We walked in the garden we planted a tree
Don't try to find me, please don't you dare
Just live in my memory, you 'll always be there."

I *HATE* Heart, anyway, and this song is like the nail in the coffin.

And, this gem from my favorite band: "Return" by The Cure:

oh i really love it here!
oh you've thought of it all!
candlelight! coconut ice! and fur on the floor!
and i reeely love the way you wear your hair and nothing more
so tell me... what is going on?
i was sure i'd already gone...
but all you say is we're all spinning
it's really not just me
but that doesn't seem to help me figure out how
a prisoner in pvc a minute after three...
it didn't used to be like this
must be all that sleep i missed"

Worst Cure song ever. And a "prisoner in PVC?" Ewww. Does that mean what I think it means?

How funny - when I think of "worst lyrics" that very Heart song always comes to mind! So contrived - it's as if a 12 year old wrote a poem for english class.

I hated Snow Patrol's "Run" the moment I heard the lyrics, particularly these:

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

Louder louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say...

AAAAARRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!! So darn lame! I just can't stand listening to it.[xx(][xx(][xx(]

Lots of crap was mentioned in this thread:

http://www.nwoutpost.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12619

As if some of those aren't bad enough, how about this gem from the legendary "Little Things" by THE COLOUR FIELD:

"and when we walk you like to hold my hand
and when we talk you tell me i'm your man
you know i love those little things
that i hear
little things you whisper in my ear
i know there ain't nobody else like you
no one could do the things you do"

This song actually starts out with "here we go rough kids"

This is like shooting fish in a barrel but I can't resist...

SAMMY JOHNS "Chevy Van"

'Cause like a princess she was layin' there
Moonlight dancin' off her hair
She woke up and took me by the hand
She's gonna love me in my Chevy van
And that's all right with me

The lame lyics of this song are only matched by Benny's pained, bombastic wailing...

BENNY MARDONES "Into The Night"

She's just sixteen years old
Leave her alone, they say
Separated by fools
Who don't know what love is yet
But I want you to know

If I could fly
I'd pick you up
I'd take you into the night
And show you a love
Like you've never seen, ever seen

From the vault of The Utterly Forgettable...

Train "Drops Of Jupiter"

Now that shes back in the atmosphere
With drops of jupiter in her hair, hey, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that theres time to change, hey, hey
Since the return from her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like june, hey, hey

Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken
Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know youre wrong
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance five-hour phone
Conversation
The best soy latte that you ever had . . . and me

Ouch, that last one was painful to even read!

Nice call on Train. This is just as bad. What's with these guys and the word "atmosphere"?

I need a sign to let me know you’re here
All of these lines are being crossed over the atmosphere
I need to know that things are gonna look up
Cause I feel us drowning in a sea spilled from a cup
When there is no place safe and no safe place to put my head
When you can feel the world shake from the words that I said

And I’m calling all angels
And I’m calling all you angels

And I won’t give up if you don’t give up
I won’t give up if you don’t give up
I won’t give up if you don’t give up
I won’t give up if you don’t give up

I need a sign to let me know you’re here
Cause my tv set just keeps it all from being clear
I want a reason for the way things have to be
I need a hand to help build up some kind of hope inside of me

And I’m calling all angels
And I’m calling all you angels

When children have to play inside so they don’t disappear
While private eyes solve marriage lies cause we dont talk for years
And football teams are kissing queens and losing sight of having dreams
In a world where all we want is only what we want untill it’s ours

Yeah, I wish I could say these were the only two Train songs that blew chunks, it was a tough choice. They seem to be very proficient in making even Bon Jovi look like Cole Porter.

Benny Mardones is a big deal here in Syracuse - for some unknown & unholy reason. He plays here at least twice a year - so we're subjected to "Into the Night" on a consistent basis. It's extra skeevy now he's got to be close to 1,000 years old (and looks to be 2,000,) and is still singing about abducting a 16 year old. He looks like he could be Keith Richard's mom. Ugh, makes my skin crawl.

How about this bit of dreck from Bobby Goldsboro - "Honey"
(I'll only give the 1st verse to save everybody the horror of the whole song)[xx(]
The worst thing is that this was a #1 hit.

See the tree, how big it's grown
But friend it hasn't been too long
It wasn't big
I laughed at her and she got mad
The first day that she planted it, was just a twig
Then the first snow came
And she ran out to brush the snow away
So it wouldn't die
Came runnin' in all excited
Slipped and almost hurt herself
And I laughed till I cried
She was always young at heart
Kinda dumb and kinda smart and I loved her so
And I surprised her with a puppy
Kept me up all Christmas Eve two years ago
And it would sure embarrass her
When I came in from workin' late
'Cause I would know
That she'd been sittin' there and cryin'
Over some sad and silly late, late show

And honey, I miss you
And I'm bein' good
And I'd love to be with you
If only I could

Forget Joy Division or The Cure or whatever. These are the best lyrics ever:
Hey baby, wake up from your asleep.
We have arrived unto the future
And the whole world is become...

Elektronik supersonik
Supersonik elektronik

Hey baby, ride with me away,
We doesn’t have much time,
My blue jeans is tight,
So onto my love rocket climb.
Inside tank of fuel is not fuel, but love.
Above us there is nothing above,
But the stars, above

All systems gone
Prepare for down-count
5.. 4.. 3.. 1.. OFF BLAST!

Fly away in my space rocket,
You no need put money in my pocket
The door is closed I just lock it
I put my birthplug in your socket

The sun in sky is bright like fire.
You and me gets higher and higher.
Cut communication wire.
Only thing can stop us is flat tire.

Hey, love crusader. I want to be your space invader.
For you I will descend the deepest moon crater.
I's more stronger than Darth Vapor.
Obey me, I's your new dictator.
For you is Venus, I am Mars.
With you, I is more richer than all the Czars.
Make a wishes on a shooting stars.
Then for you I will play on my cosmic guitars.

Ladies and Gentlemen, fasten your beltseats.
We has commenced our descent.
I trust you enjoy this flight as much as you enjoy this accent.

Now back on earth is time for down-splash
Into sea of eternal glory my spaceship crash
People have arrived for to cheer me from near and far
And as I float, I open door and shout
"I am world's biggest washed up superstar!"

As for sure as the sun rises in the West.
Of all the singers and poets on Earth, I am the bestest.
Come, let me put ring of Jupiter on your finger.
Then like a smell around you, I will forever linger.
Okay, is time for end.
No more will I sang.
Let me take you back in time.
I want for you to experience Big Bang.

Long live Space Race. Long live Molvania.

LOVE WILL FIND A WAY
(Rabin)

You wanna get close to me
The feeling so clear
But I need some time to see
Vision through my tear
You wanna get next to me
I need your intrusion
I don't need to be
Blinded by confusion

Here is my heart
Waiting for you
Here is my soul
I eat at chez nous

Love will find a way
If you want it to
Love will find a way
Love will find a way for me and you

So you want to get over me
And that's how you feel
Everything you want to be
Seems so unreal
I want to be all of you
And that's the confusion
It's so hard for me
To draw a conclusion

Just a few lines from this song:

If you wanna make love to me
You've got to get down on your knees...

When i say i want you
I really really want you
I'll do anything to get you on your knees

Yes, the wonders of Mike Score and his ability to ruin a perfectly good album by actually believing that 'Love On Your Knees' was a good idea.

OK,maybe it is a good idea. But not for a song!
