Beat makes a good point. It is kind of "out of character" for a religious person to put value on such things.

What he's really getting is the "jesus is love" model with a special "countdown to the rapture" feature which only he can see. I'm sure he's just not telling us because we're impure.

Wow. $1,000 for a watch is a lot to me! I thought I was being extravagant when I paid $50 for a Fossil watch a few years ago!

I'm not picking on you, Quite Life. I guess it all just boils down to what you like. I wouldn't drop $1,000 on a watch, but there are other things in life that I would do that for--in a second. My reasoning is that I work my ass off for every penny I make, and once the necessities are taken care of, I spend my money how I want to.

A Fossil's what I have too (one of those big black cuff ones) but I don't wear it much. I can't stand how cool it makes me. [;)]

I bought one of these 2 years ago and haven't looked back since. How can you be a true New Waver without one? Just think what you could do with the extra $900.

I wish I had 1k spare! I have a trusty Baby G shock watch and a Hello Kitty one to wear going out, they are good enough for me. It would be a waste of time me buying a rolex or anything even if I had spare cash, I'd either wreck it or be watching my back incase peopel were after it! [:D]

Those LED timepieces are pretty damned groovy. But you can get a much better deal on eBay:

Me, I'm a Tag man. My wife bought this around 1993-4 when we were still dating. A 2000 Series, it was around $800 at the time though she got it at half price while in Hong Kong on a business trip. Yes, it is authentic. Today, the 2000 Series will set you back a grand. When I first got it, I hardly wore it - only to special events, really. But after a few years, I said screw it and just started wearing it everyday. In the twelve years I've had it, I've only changed the battery three times and worn it everywhere. Good watch.

I also have this Casio Pathfinder which has a built in digital barometer, altimeter, thermometer and compass. And yes, they all work exactly perfect.

I still have all my Swatches from the eighties and into the early nineties. When I was in college, I worked as a Swatch model and got a few Swatches that way. I also have Nike, Guess, Fossil and Nautica watches that I have'nt worn in years. I always loved watches. I also have vintage Star Wars and Star Trek watches. And I have my original Cub Scouts watch from when I was in grade school.

I recommend the Kromega III...a watch so complex, it takes three hands to operate.
