I love public meetings. Doesn't matter what the issue is people will get in line just to tell you how long they lived here and how their father who worked at blah blah lived and grandpa too and "I’m for/against whatever. Building a new road, moving the library, siting a power plant it doesn't matter. For every one person that makes a point there are ten morons that haven't got a point and you got to listen politely.

I was agitated at what Mel said. It was very thoughtless and as far as the whole thing goes, it all goes down to the saying "like father, like son". His father is notorious (at least with the Jewish communities) for his comments against the Jewish people and the state of Israel. I remember once when I interviewed a rabbi for a story involving Mel when the Passion of the Christ controversy was out... and he said "it will just be a matter of time until Mel's true feelings about Jews will surface." Looks like his words came true. I also think he was a complete asshole for driving while intoxicated. Very irresponsible.

I think the general public will most likely forgive but aspects of Hollywood and the country will not forget this. It has no bearing on how I view the movies he has already made. I was losing interest in him years ago (everything after Braveheart basically)... so it doesn't really change my view of the man.

I am also agitated at how Mel's comments to a police officer, one who is sworn to serve and protect the general public, were then leaked to the public by somebody at the police department. By somebody who obviously had some sort of agenda. There is no reason for Mel's comments to be made public, nor to be included into a police report whether he was intoxicated or not. The simple fact it was leaked to the press shows us again how poorly run most of our police departments are in this country.

PLUS.... some part of me doesn't believe the police report, that could just be the simple fact that most police departments have the potential to be more corrupt than the people they are supposed to be protecting us from.

I am amazed that even though there was a police watchdog group put on this case to make sure that Gibson didn't get preferential treatment from the cops, his report still somehow got leaked to the general public. Now there will be yet another internal investigation at the PD into who leaked the information to the press in the first place. I am glad our taxes go to good things.

The US has been involved in hundreds of nasty and dirty military operations in so many places in the world and has been at war against so many countries, that a big part of the world's population doesn't like North Americans a lot. And it's a pity that US citizens have to pay for what their government does, though somebody elected Bush... or was it the electronic voting system? [}:)]

It's just that Bush winning the elections again didn't made much sense to me, and some months ago I read a book where it was explained that the electronic voting system might have changed the final results in the elections... well, something similar happened in Florida in 2000 with those strange cards for voting, or not?
