This is the model I have -- $70 + shipping. I got the green version cause I think it attracts money [:D] -- it's mounted to the wall, though you can put it on a wood or metal post as well. Also has a lock and is large enough for about a weeks worth or more of mail if you are out of town. My wife worries about mail theft, so we got the locking version.

http://www.mailboxes.com/ MAIL HOUSES - http://tinyurl.com/nk4ex
Made of electro-galvanized 20 gauge steel, Salsbury 4700 series mail houses include a stainless steel mail flap. Mail houses can be surface mounted, mounted on standard bolt mounted mailbox posts (#4765), standard in-ground mounted mailbox posts (#4795) or a base of your choice. Each mail house features a durable powder coated finish available in four (4) contemporary colors. Mail houses are accessed from the front through a 13'' W x 9'' H locking door and include a lock with (2) keys. A non-locking thumb latch (related item #4788) is available as an option upon request. Mail houses may be used for U.S.P.S. residential door mail delivery.

Like Stella - I am amazed at what people will steal. I've had very good luck so far, except for a very, very old, rotten broom. WTF would anyone do with that?

I left a 12 pack of soda in my car a few months ago & foolishly forgot to lock the car. The next morning 2 cans were gone. Again...WTF?

[/quote]I've had soda cans explode in a car here in the Phoenix summer heat. The only things I've had stolen off ofmy front porch was a yard trimmer and a leaf blower -- both cost about $30 each and I had them for over 8 years, so it wasn't that big of a deal, $60 + tax to replace... I consider myself lucky.

I remember reading about a local guy years ago that would crap, wrap it in a box like a gift and leave it on the backseat of his car with the car unlocked and let assholes steal it.

hee hee!
I like that--that's crazy funny.

People stealing stuff from your yard or car are sad. But I guess it's gonna happen. I've only had a potted plant stolen once from our front yard. We've been lucky. You know my Baby--my '74 Plymouth Duster--well, I really want a paint job for it. But it's probably a good thing I can't afford it, b/c everybody tells me not to get a paint job b/c then somebody might steal my car! *sniff*

Years ago, our home (not where we live currently, but a home we were renting) got broken into, and some things were stolen. Now THAT sucks. Have you guys have your homes broken into and/or burglarized? Sucks huh.

Just a update on the mailbox thing. When I came back from walking my dog last night my neighbor from across the street was out front of his house waiting for the cops . He told me that his canoe was busted up on the near by pond . He also found out that it was the same little shits that busted up all those mailboxes. He knows who they are and now the cops know. [:D]

They busted up his canoe? Thats big stuff. I hope they get in trouble.
Want to talk stolen? They say if it cant be nailed down, dont put it in front of your house. I had put those solar lights in the ground around my front walkway which is on my property next to the front door. I was in the driveway and someone walked up to the front door....and screwed off the topps of 2 of them! I was right there! Well I moved them to the back. People suck.
