Maybe it's just post-gig exuberance, but I'm telling you that I think the Fleet Foxes show tonight in Somerville MA was the best gig I've seen all year. Mind you, I saw my favorite band British Sea Power 10 times this year. Goldfrapp was no slouch, and Yazoo was an absolute blast too. Who knows how many bands I caught at SXSW, including the lovely Shout Out Louds. Of course, Echo and the Bunnymen doing Ocean Rain with an orchestra was a signature experience for the ages.
But I am telling you now, DO NOT MISS Fleet Foxes if they come around your parts. I can't explain it. Incredibly uplifting. Otherworldly harmonies. Monumental songwriting. And just DIFFERENT. Massively enjoyable. If you have an open mind to new music, catch one of the remaining dates on the current tour before they head to Europe:
