He and I have talked about it - it would be cool but no plans at the moment
Alex,

Has Justin ever tried to compile his mixes and put them out. That would be amazing if he did. A dream come true.
I know for a fact that Justin's mix was NOT sourced from vinyl

well i have the cd and guess what...that mix is sourced from vinyl...just by simply skipping to near the end of the track there are distinct clicks and crackles

there seems to be no quality control over at the cherry red headquarters

Ok so the general feeling is that this is another CR blunder and not worth purchasing ? I'm sticking to my orgininal MCA cd from 1989.

My copy arrived today. The packaging itself is top-notch. It's a double gatefold with both CDs and the DVD occupying their own slots cut into the cardboard. The CD booklet is outstanding with a 3 page foreword written by Holly Johnson in October, 2010. There are pictures sprinkled throughout along with song lyrics. The mixes on disc 2 have additional information as to where they originally appeared.

Now, on to the bone of contention. I just finished listening to the Justin Strauss Extended Remix of Americanos (aka the Extended Mix), and I didn't hear any noticeable crackling. I'm playing the CD on my iMac using a Bose Companion 3 version 2 2.1 speaker setup. It's by no means audiophile, but I'm happy with the sound. The beats section that starts about 5:45 - 5:46 into the song has no obvious crackling that I can discern. The last few seconds when it just drops to beats and a whistle also don't sound like there's any crackling or popping. Maybe my ears aren't good enough to hear it. I'll defer to the experts and the waveforms on this one.

Stuff like this would never get released nowadays without these smaller labels. If it's not perfect, I understand the frustration and unmet expectations aspect as well as any sense of being misled. If there's finger wagging that needs to be done, I'll not stand in the way of making the customer satisfied with their purchase.

I guess I'm just happy that it got released, and in such a pleasant form, at that! I never owned any of the mixes off this album. To be honest, I never paid much attention to Holly's solo career even though I was a big FGTH fan, having played WTTPD too many times to count.

Thanks for the great memories, Holly. I'm having a Blast with Blast! Now put something new out! We miss you.

Are you joking Finnatic?....Thanks for what ?
Listen to Track 6 on CD 2, Love Train UK 12''Mix.....there is a crackling noise all the way through the track....UNBEARABLE.
The person who has supervised this project should be sacked.
You cannot approve a project and sent it for production to the factory , with this kind of fuck-up. It is shameful and discredit the whole Record Label.
Let's see if , as usual, CHERRY POP will notice and correct it.
The packaging is nice indeed....but it makes the whole mess even worse...such a missed opportunity to deliver a nice reissue, considering the fans, such as A-HA reissues, the digipacks were lovely but the mastering were top notch, too.

I don't think the Justin Strauss Extended Version sounds terrible (there are occasional, barely perceptible static hits -- inexcusable, but don't they drastically take away from the listening experience).

HOWEVER, chrisbor, you're absolutely right about Track 6. It's horrible! I'm not sure the vinyl was defective; it sounds more like the needle was worn down to a nub.

well this board has set my expectations low enough that I felt comfortable in ordering... I was really looking forward to this release, hope it's not as bad as some say it is.

Yeah....the love train a train remix is pretty bad quality....horrible actually. Haven't made it all the way through yet, but agree with everyone else....how hard is it to get a little quality control.
